žalioji tribūna

Project overview
Bridging Sports and Sustainability
"Žalioji Tribūna" (Green Tribune) is an innovative sustainability initiative led by BC Žalgiris, Lithuania's iconic basketball club. Partnering with the international organization OCH, Žalgiris aims to use its influence to promote sustainability in a way that resonates with its loyal fanbase. OCH, dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues, recognized the need to reach conservative audiences outside of Lithuania's major cities, where skepticism toward foreign influence and resistance to change are more prevalent. The project focuses on using familiar cultural touchpoints—basketball and community engagement—to introduce sustainability in a relatable, impactful manner. The digital platform for "Žalioji Tribūna" serves as a hub for these efforts, offering a flexible website that can evolve with Žalgiris' future green initiatives.

The challange
Engaging Traditional Audiences in Green Initiatives
Engaging conservative and traditional audiences with sustainability messaging is no small feat, especially when these groups often perceive such topics as foreign impositions rather than local priorities. The challenge for "Žalioji Tribūna" was to create a digital experience that would effectively communicate BC Žalgiris' green initiatives in a way that felt authentic, local, and relevant to their fans. Additionally, the website needed to be flexible enough to accommodate not just the initial focus on 3x3 basketball tournaments, but also the broader sustainability efforts that would follow. This required a careful balance between promoting green initiatives and maintaining the trust and loyalty of Žalgiris' audience.

The result
Eco-Friendly Digital Experience
The "Žalioji Tribūna" website combines visual storytelling with a commitment to sustainability, making it an engaging and approachable platform for Žalgiris' fanbase. The design draws inspiration from the natural world, with lush green visuals (created by Andstudio) symbolizing the connection between sports and the environment. The homepage immediately grabs attention with bold, high-impact imagery—such as the textured basketball set against grass—that reflects the dual focus on basketball and eco-friendly initiatives.
A clear and dynamic layout guides users through the site, prioritizing ease of navigation. Key elements like the 3x3 basketball tournament are highlighted with prominent calls to action, making it simple for users to engage with the most current initiatives. The typography, with its bold and blocky style, echoes the strength and tradition of Žalgiris while maintaining a modern aesthetic that aligns with sustainability messaging. Modular design elements ensure that new campaigns, content, and events can be seamlessly integrated into the site as the project evolves. The responsive design guarantees accessibility across all devices, allowing users to engage with Žalgiris' sustainability efforts from anywhere, whether they are checking the latest news, exploring eco-friendly tips, or signing up for events.
The overall result is a website that balances aesthetic appeal with functional design, serving as a central hub for Žalgiris' green efforts. It provides a visually appealing, user-friendly, and content-rich experience that keeps fans connected to both the club and the broader sustainability movement.
